Southwestern Athlete Recognized By Athletic Dept

Very well deserved

                                         crumley

This is the email that was received from Tom Scroggins from the Southwestern Athletic Department along with a picture

I want to alert you all of a heroic situation and a great show of sportsmanship by one of our student-athletes. Yesterday at the PRE-ORVC cross country meet that we host at Hanover College, a young man from a different school fell and passed out on the course. Running right with him was our very own Ashton Crumley. Ashton noticed the young man fall, and without hesitation (while seeing other runner continue on), went to the aid of the young man. He first, checked on the young man. Then, instead of running the race, Ashton ran the other way to get help. He then waited by the young man until proper help arrived. Knowing now that the young man was in better hands, Ashton went on the race and finished.

Mr. Owens and I, today, awarded Ashton with the IHSAA sportsmanship pin award. He is very deserving of this and we congratulate him, as all of you should. He is a shining example of what we want our students to be.
