First former player to coach at the school
Former Madison Cub Danny Gibson has officially been hired to take over the Cubs whom have went 17-55 in the last three seasons,
He is a 2002 graduate of Madison who after playing in college and a lengthy pro career in Europe returned home a few years ago and has been following the local team.
Madison has had many boys basketball coaches over the past 80 years and each one had one thing in common: They each came from someplace else. Now the Cubs are trying a different approach, hiring a coach who has worn the Madison uniform and played at some of the highest levels in the sport.
Gibson was one of 28 applicants that applied for the position following the resignation of Adam Stotts whom went 17-55 in three seasons.
He was a freshman on Madison's 1999 semistate team and a three-year starter. But while in high school he actually excelled more in football and was an Indiana Mr. Football finalist at wide receiver his senior year.
