GOLF
That's a pretty darn good 398, actually. That's the first time we've been to The Links, and that place is tough. There is trouble everywhere. That is a regional-level course. Plus, Emmi and Eliza were both battling through illness, and it was an extremely hot day. According to the slope and rating, it's the second hardest course we've played behind Bloomington Country Club, but the girls said The Links played harder. The 398 is probably 20 to 25 strokes better at home.
Emmi got off to a hot start, but I knew it would be difficult for her to maintain because of the sickness. She and Eliza really battled today. Many players would have called or texted me and said they wouldn't have been able to go today. I think they would have made me carry them off on a stretcher, although I would never let it get to that point.
Izzie is starting to point in the right direction, too. We tried to shorten her swing this week, which helped quite a bit. She's put in some short-game practice with Coach Detmer-Leary, and she holed out from about 25 yards on 18 for her first-ever birdie.
Aleigh's ball striking is really good right now, but it's not translating to her score. I've been around a little bit, and usually it's only a matter of time when somebody is hitting it that well before it starts to show up on the scorecard.
This team has the possibility to be the best group I've ever coached, and I think they are starting to realize their potential. We're at the halfway mark of the season already, and we're all eager to continue to grind.
BOYS SOCCER:
Shawe falls on the road at Jeffersonville 10-1.
Shawe fell behind early but did find a goal when Bartosz Rychlicki hit a pass to Aiden Edmonson for the lone Shawe goal of the night.
GIRLS SOCCER :
Shawe varsity girls soccer went to Oldenburg academy twister tournament Saturday. First game we played Oldenburg and got beat 7 to 0 we scored to on goals and I thought played a pretty good game against a very skilled team. Ava Flint done an amazing job in goal the twisters took 25 shots on goal and only allowed 7 in goal. Second game we played Centerville bulldogs we won that game 9 to 2 they scored 1 goal on a PK Ava Flint the keeper got a hand on it but still got through. Goals by Shawe was Justice Kuntz 4 goals 3 assist, Maria Ameca-mendoza 2 Goals and 2 assist, single Goals by Kinsley Pollitt, Malarie Boswell and Ruby scoop Martin. We out shot the bulldogs 26 to 7 . Ava Flint done an amazing job in goal both games.
