State of Sports in Indiana
Here is where we sit regarding sports in Indiana:
In motor sports, Governor Eric Holcomb’s targeted date of phase 5 for getting the state “Back on Track” is July 4.
The Colts began reopening their team facility on Tuesday, May 19. The NFL is not allowing teams to bring back coaches and players until all 32 teams are able to. The Colts are supposed to open training camp July 23 at Grand Park in Westfield, IN.
The Pacers might have played for the last time this season at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, but they might await playoff games, beginning in mid-July at Disney World.
As far as college sports, and football in specific, there are still a lot of uncertainties whether we will see college football this year. Purdue and Notre Dame changed the academic calendar to an early August start, ending the semester by Thanksgiving and without a fall break. Indiana University and Butler have also announced they will bring back students to campus for fall classes.
