FRIDAY : Trimble Co. softball falls 15-0 in the championship game of the 31st District Tournament game. Emma Ginn 0-0, 2 IBB McKenna Ritchie (L) 2IP, 3ER, 6H, 1K, 1BB Trimble sees its 18-game win streak snapped and falls to 23-7. Raiders will play in the 8th Region Tourney next week 

The 31st District Runners-Up for the 2nd straight year.

Hanover College wins HCAC Commissioner's Cup HANOVER CUP

The Hanover College Panthers have been crowned the 2021-22 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup Champions.

This is the 17th annual Commissioners Cup and is awarded to the institution whose athletic department registers the most all-sports points in both men’s and women’s athletics over the course of the academic year.

The Panthers accumulated 146.01 points to claim the title in 2021-22, their third-straight competitive year earning the honor. Hanover registered one regular season conference championship during the year in men’s basketball, and were runners up in women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer and men’s tennis.

 

Hanover narrowly claimed the lead in the overall Commissioner’s Cup standings. Rose-Hulman finished in second with 145.33 points while Transylvania took third with 133.345, Franklin was fourth with 123.33 and Anderson was fifth with 104.99. Manchester (90), Mount St. Joseph (81.01), Bluffton (71.33), Earlham (67.16) and Defiance (43.495) rounded out the standings.

The 2021-22 academic year was the 17th for the Commissioner’s Cup. The award is based on accumulation of points in the HCAC’s 22 championships and all affiliate sports.

Carroll Co.'s boys place 10th with 23 points while the girls are 12th with 13. State qualifiers for the Panthers: Evan Searcy, 1st, discus, 119-9 Hope Staley, 1st, high jump, 4-8 There may be more qualifiers for TC and CC in the coming days as regionals are completed.
