New golf coach at Hanover, H1 underway
Former Madison golfer Brandon Tereshko had been named head coach of the men’s and women’s golf programs at Hanover College. Tereshko comes to Hanover after serving as the head men’s and women’s golf coach at St. Andrews University, an NAIA program based in North Carolina, since last December. Prior to leading the Knights’ golf programs, Tereshko was an assistant coach for his alma mater, Taylor University at Upland, Indiana, for one year. Tereshko, 24, takes over as the Panthers’ head coach after longtime Hanover athletic coach and supporter, Wayne Perry, announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2017-18 campaign. Tereshko’s father, Bill, has served as assistant coach with the Hanover men’s program and his brother, Justin also is a former Madison golfer and just resigned as head golf coach at Guilford College after four seasons and will be relocating to Kentucky.
Andrew Tate and the U-9 Delta/RealTrac saw a five-boat lead over Jimmy Shane and U-1 HomeStreetBank/Miss Madison evaporate in the final turn but then held off Shane a deck-to-deck photo finish to win Sunday’s H1 Unlimited Southern Cup at Guntersville Lake, Alabama. Jimmy Shane piloted the Miss HomeStreetBank/Miss Madison to 1st in heat 1A but a fuel violation disqualified them to finish 3rd. Shane did get two firsts in his next two heats before 2nd in the final.
