KHSAA adds esports
Madison girls golf shoots a 426 to finish second in a tri-meet with Seymour and Scottsburg. Seymour won the meet shooting 381 while Scottsburg shot a 447 for third. Lady Cub, Keara Eder shot 82 to finish one stroke back of the co-medalists.
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association is adding esports to the list of competitions it oversees. Student are now able to form teams to play video games competitively. The KHSAA expanded its list of sports in recent years to include bass fishing and archery. Adding esports draws on an increasing trend of video game competitions that bring in hundreds of spectators and players. Some colleges are even offering scholarships in the event.
