(undated.) - The Kentucky High School Athletic Association met with its Board of Control on Friday, July 10 to set dates in places for its schools and sports going forward.
The biggest date mentioned was August 3 with will be the date for mandatory practices to begin, in a normal year these practices would begin on July 15.
The only sport that will be allowed to begin on the original start date of July 15 is golf. Matches will be able to begin on Friday, March 31 with limited spectators.
As far as other sports starting competitions, the KHSAA plans to see what the next two to three weeks look like and come up with guidelines in early August.
Along with these pushed back dates, athletes are being limited to six hours of practice per week, per sport. This is to make sure they limit the amount of exposure to other players during workouts.
KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett also noted that Governor Andy Beshear's mask mandate had an exception for any person who is actively participating in athletic practice, scrimmage, or competition. He also said that masks will be imperative to high school sports returning.
