IHSAA Cancels Remaining Spring Sports. Hanover College Honors Spring Sports Seniors.
IHSAA Announces Spring Sports For This Year Canceled:
After Governor Holcomb's latest executive order, making the remainder of the school year e-learning only, the IHSAA has now announced that all spring sports this year have now been canceled. As of right now, fall sports for next school year are still believed to be on schedule.
In Indiana High School Basketball:
Game officials Jay Slater and Gary Wier will be will be recognized with special awards for 2020 by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association. Slater and Wier will be honored as respective winners of the Roy Gardner and Mildred Ball awards as outstanding officials throughout long careers on the hardwood. The two officials are being cited for their work impacting the game floor, Slater from 1986 to present and Wier from 1981 to 2013. Slater just completed his 34th year of officiating and has worked the boys' basketball State Finals on four occasions and the girls' basketball State Finals on four additional occasions. Wier officiated for 32 seasons, including three times in the boys' basketball State Finals and five times in the girls' basketball State Finals. He was the winner of the 2013 Interscholastic Athletic Official Award for excellence in girls' basketball.
In Hanover College Sports:
Hanover alongside the HCAC is continuing to honor it’s spring sports seniors who’s final year has been cut short due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Today they are honoring seniors from both the men’s and women’s tennis teams. Seniors being honored on the men’s team are Landon Carrico and Jonathan Helmers. On the women’s team, Mig Katzenberger, Cami Jones, Lizzy Katzenberger, and Meghan Farrell. These seniors are being recognized for their career achievements, and the legacy they have left on Hanover.
