“It was a good night for us to get a win after how we started the season last night. With that being said, we have a lot to work on. I have no doubt that we can be a tough team to deal with as the season goes on. We just have to keep getting better every day!”

Reserve doubles teams of Kimberly Ortiz and Natalia Skarzynska, along with Jade Cox and Gabby Cabreles came away with wins also!

Shawe is now 1-1 on the season, will travel to Milan on Monday

The Southwestern Lady Rebels pulled out a hard fought match at Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday. ‘Very tough opening match today and the girls just hung tough and battled at every position fighting Trinity and 35 mph winds.” We were down one set at one singles, two singles, one doubles and down 4-1 at two doubles to start the match.  We lost six of our top seven players from last years 19-3 team so all new faces and it will take some time to find our groove. Syrenia battled in a three set loss and just came up short. She is one of our captains and only returning player so I expect a lot out of her. After a brief discussion Emma started to play her game and cruised in the last two sets. Ava played a really solid match for us and was the first off the courts.

Great match at one doubles with the new combo of Autumn Gross and Natalie LaRue and they did not disappoint. Falling in three sets but I saw a ton of positives and think they should have a solid season for us.  I thought two doubles just played a great match as they were down 1-4 and pulled out a 7-6 tiebreaker win and cruised in the second set. First season for Raygan as a player and she has improved quickly and Kaylee along with Emma and Ava are all freshmen and have stepped right in for us. There will be some hills and valleys this season with the youth we have but the next foru years look really bright for us. The Lady rebels travel to South Dearborn today for a 5:00 start.
