JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Dave O'Mara Contractor, Inc. plans to resume work on State Road 56 (Clifty Drive) on or after Monday, March 3, to complete pedestrian facility work in Madison.

Pedestrian facility work will take place between Wilson Avenue and Michigan Road and is expected to be complete in early June, weather permitting. Eastbound and westbound S.R. 56 will be reduced to one lane while work is in progress.

Resurfacing work will take place on S.R. 56 following the completion of pedestrian facility work. Overall work is scheduled to be complete in October 2025, weather permitting. Additional information will be provided as work progresses.

This work is part of a $12.3 million contract awarded to Dave O'Mara in November 2023. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
