(Versailles, Ind.) – The Versailles Fire Department honored a local hero after she helped save her mother.

On Tuesday, Missy Parrott was presented with a “Hero Award” to recognize her heroic actions. On Thursday, May 21 Missy immediately sought help from her neighbors when her mother needed to be rescued after falling into a septic tank under their deck.

Along with her hero award, Missy received a quilt from the Hoosier Hills Quilts for Kids.

"The Versailles Fire Department would also like to thank the Rising Sun Regional Foundation for their support," says Versailles Fire Rescue. "It was through their grant program the department was able to acquire the specialty rescue equipment utilized during Missy's mother's rescue."
