Two Jennings County First Responders Given Awards Following Work Done In Runaway Juvenile Case

The two girls were lured out of the state by an unknown male they had met online and were traveling to California to meet him.

(Jennings County, Ind.) – Two Jennings County First Responders were presented an award from the American Law Enforcement Hall of Fame.

Sheriff’s Kenny Freeman has the opportunity to present these awards to Dispatcher Julie Miller and Deputy Ian McPherson.

McPherson and Miller were presented with the ‘Knight of Justice Award’ for their outstanding effort and performance during an investigation where two endangered female runaway juveniles were located in Iowa and safely returned home.

The two girls were lured out of the state by an unknown male they had met online and were traveling to California to meet him.

Deputy McPherson lead the investigation and worked with Dispatcher Mille to locate the girls in Iowa as they were traveling on Interstate 80. Iowa State Patrol assisted with the investigation, taking the girls into custody. The incident could have resulted in a tragic ending, but because of the efforts of Deputy McPherson and Dispatcher Miller, the girls were found and returned home safely.
