TWO ARRESTED ON DRUG AND COUNTERFEIT CHARGES

Circle K in downtown Madison

On April 5, 2018, the Madison Police Department received a call in reference to counterfeit money that was being used at Circle K in downtown Madison. The caller provided a vehicle description. Ptl. Shawn Scudder and Jefferson County Sheriff Deputy Brad Demaree located the vehicle nearby and made contact with the driver, identified as Alice Riggs Age 42, and the passenger, identified as Mickey Mullins Age 42, both of Madison Indiana. Ptl. Scudder recently conducted an investigation that named Mullins as an active participant in making counterfeit money.

During the investigation, Alice provided officers consent to search the vehicle. During the search officers located an HP Printer. Also in the vehicle officers located $1940 in counterfeit US Currency. During the continued search officers located drug paraphernalia and syringes. The drug paraphernalia field tested positive for methamphetamine. Riggs and Mullins were placed under arrest and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.

Riggs denied knowledge of the counterfeit money, but stated she has been told that Mullins deals in counterfeit money. Mullins told Police he makes the money for “fun”.

Also assisting in the investigation was Capt. Rick Mundt and Ptl. James Lee.
