THE CITY OF MADISON PARKS AND RECREATION RELEASE NEW LOGO AND BRANDING FOR CITY PARKS

Strengthen communication and increase user ease for residents and visitors

Madison, Indiana (January 8, 2024) – The City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department has released new logos to be used for city parks and programming in 2024. The new branding is a part of the greater effort to strengthen communication and increase user ease for residents and visitors of the city.

The new logo incorporates a series of icons and colors that will be used to help create an identification system. With six colors ringing the City of Madison seal, each will identify a park type: green spaces, water attractions, indoor facilities, playgrounds, outdoor facilities, and dog parks. The new branding creates a strong identity for the parks as an extension of the city.

"We felt it was important for the City of Madison Parks to be easily identified," said Parks and Recreation Director Scott Klein. "For example, when I started, I was unaware that the Stucker tennis courts at Shawe were a city park because there was nothing to tie it back to the city. I believe branding is critical to identifying parks and what can be done at each location, and this new logo and identification system will help residents and visitors identify what each facility has to offer."

The department is also introducing a new tagline, "from one generation to the next," to help convey its mission of creating and sustaining parks that will contribute to the quality of life in Madison for generations to come.

The project began in Q3 of 2023, and final designs were approved at the Parks Board meeting on December 7, 2023. Over time, new park signs will be installed utilizing the new logo that shows the city seal, park type, and name, and maps of park locations can be expected within the coming months. Klein says the community can expect to see additional new logos for Crystal Beach, Sunrise Golf Course and Riverview Campground parks this year. "These logos will be utilized to specifically market each area to attract visitors and improve revenue," said Klein.

"The improved branding aligns our mission with our quality of life initiatives," said Mayor Courtney. "I love the direction our parks department is headed and the opportunities it is providing for our community. This team is consistently working to give our residents the best experience possible."
