(Switzerland County, Ind.) – Due to Governor Holcomb’s announcement of mandatory masks taking effect on Monday, July 27, Switzerland County School Corporation is informing parents and guardians of what this will look like for the upcoming school year.

Students will return to school on Wednesday, August 12, and the school has announced that masks and water bottles will be provided to every student.

Once Gov. Holcomb releases his executive order, more information will be released, but at this time the school has put out general information for the corporation:

  • Masks will be provided to students at no cost. No parent will be required to purchase a mask unless you choose to do so on your own. All masks must be school appropriate like any other dress code item.
  • From the executive order children grades, 3-12 will be required to wear a mask on the bus, at school during certain times, during co-curricular and extracurricular activities. These currently exclude times of strenuous activity, while eating and drinking, and when social distancing is possible.
  • Any student with a medical condition preventing you from wearing a mask may be excluded from wearing a mask also. (A doctor’s note will suffice in proof of condition)

Parents and guardians are being encouraged to enroll or update registration as soon as possible.

"Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you August 12," says Mr. Rod Hite, Superintendent Switzerland County School Corporation.
