Madison, IN – The Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County is currently accepting applications for the Carolyn Bruce Spicer & Gene E. Spicer Nursing Scholarship. Online applications will be accepted until Friday, February 14, 2025, at Noon. This scholarship is open to registered nurses living in Jefferson, Clark, Jennings, Ripley, Scott, or Switzerland Counties, IN, or Carroll or Trimble Counties, KY, who have their associate degree in Nursing and are planning to pursue their bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Carolyn Bruce Spicer was a nurse for 45 years, and she and her husband, Gene, wanted this endowment to help area nurses attain the next level of their education. This endowment also awards a scholarship to a Madison Consolidated High School senior planning to pursue an associate or bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Applicants must create a profile and complete the online application available via the “Apply” link at https://www.cfmjc.org/scholarships.

“We thank Carolyn and Gene for helping registered nurses in the area reach the next level of their educational goals,” said Community Foundation Scholarship Coordinator Julie Wells. Wells shared some tips to help applicants put their “best foot forward” as they apply for this scholarship:

-Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible in order to upload the Student Aid Index (SAI) page of the report.
