Shooting Results in Arrest of Madison Man

Case remains under investigation

                                  

March 30, 2023, at approximately 8:55 AM Madison Police responded to a report of a man down in the 300 block of State Street.  

Upon arrival officers located an adult male with a bloody face and gunshot wound to his leg.  KDH-EMS transported the victim to the emergency room with non-life threatening injuries.  

The subsequent investigation led officers to a residence in the 400 block of Depot Street, the location in which the shooting occurred.  

A suspect in the shooting was identified as Daniel C. Durocher 34, Madison, Indiana, and a resident of the Depot Street residence.  A search warrant for Durocher's residence and vehicle was sought and received.  

After executing the warrant's, and multiple interviews, officers established probable cause to arrest Durocher for a Level 3 felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  

The investigation is ongoing, and being led by Madison Police Detectives Rick Harris, Shawn Scudder, and Major Jeremey Perkins.  Officer Cody Lewis was the initial responder.  

The victim was allegedly shot by Durocher, following a verbal and physical altercation between the two men. Daniel Durocher has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty. The MPD was assisted by a technician with the Indiana State Police Crime Scene Unit.
