Sheriff Seeking Information About Suspicious Package

Earlier Sunday morning on October 25 at approximately 3:00 a.m. a silver or white Chevy truck was observed in the area that was parked in the roadway, blocking State Road 250.

(Madison, Ind.) - The Jefferson County Sheriff, David W. Thomas, is seeking information about a suspicious package found on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at approximately 12:15 p.m. on State Road 250 near the intersection with U.S. 421. Officers from the Sheriff's Department responded to the location after receiving a report of a suspicious package that appeared to be a bomb.

Upon arrival, deputies secured the scene and contacted Trooper Rick Stockdale with the Indiana State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team. Trooper Stockdale was dispatched to the scene and assisted with the investigation.

Earlier Sunday morning on October 25 at approximately 3:00 a.m. a silver or white Chevy truck was observed in the area that was parked in the roadway, blocking State Road 250.

This investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff's Department has been working with the Indiana State Police, the Jefferson County Prosecutor's Office, and ATF. They are actively pursuing all leads.
