Open to those in need
As the bitterly cold wind chills move in tonight, the emergency winter shelter will be open tonight at The Salvation Army on Main Street in Madison. Doors open at 6pm
Switzerland Co. EMA announced there will be a warming center set up at the Vevay Tech Center at 708 West Seminary St. in Vevay. The center will be open from 10 AM today through Thursday afternoon at 4 PM. This will be for individuals that have NO Electric or NO Heat. Also, no pets will be allowed except for Medical Service Animals. If you have any questions you can contact Switzerland County Emergency Management at 812-801-3141.
With the Judge Executive and Emergency Management the county has decided to open a warming center located at the Gallatin County senior citizens building 400 3rd st in Warsaw. It will open at 5pm today and stay open till Thursday at 4pm. This is for Gallatin county residents that are experiencing heating or electric problems. No animals will be allowed except for service animals.
January 30th and January 31st, The Carroll County Senior Center located at 110 6th Street, Carrollton will be open from 8:00am thru 3:00pm daily. Anyone needing a place to warm up can stop by the Senior Center to relax, warm up and enjoy a hot cup of coffee.
The Morgan Community Center will be opening up as a warming center for any Trimble County Residents at 9:00pm. The City of Bedford Kentucky would encourage anyone who needs to seek shelter from the cold to make their way to the community center if possible. Mayor Robinson will be manning the shelter for the time being. Anyone who may want to come, the building is warm, and there will be coffee. If you plan on coming please let us know. We will close the center if no one comes up by around 11pm, so that staff may go home.
The Country Squire Lakes Clubhouse will be open Tuesday through Thursday this week as a shelter for those that have no heat or electric. No pets allowed unless they are a service animal.
