(Madison, Ind.) – As many schools across the country are shut down to the coronavirus pandemic, many are finding different ways to honor their seniors whose final days of their high school careers cut short.
Shawe Memorial has tried to stay connected with video chats by the Principal along with “Senior Salutes” honoring each member of the Shawe Class of 2020.
This week the school made individual yard signs which were hand-delivered to the seniors by President Phil Kahn, Principal Curt Gardner, and Administrative Assistant Bonnie Wentworth. The group got together and hit the road, while keeping social distancing in mind, to tell them about the surprise in their yards.
“The seniors were excited and seeing the smiles that were shown in all of the pictures made it all worthwhile. So many events and gatherings have and will be missed, but there are still many ways that we can honor these great seniors,” said Phil Kahn.
The school has also been sharing a “Senior Salute” with quotes from family members and staff every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on their Facebook. They will be doing these until each senior has been honored.
“We want to wish all seniors across the country the best of luck and although this is a different time for everyone this will always be a special class in each school,” stated the school.
