Attempted to bring suspected Sublingual pills to her boyfriend

A Scottsburg woman was arrested for trafficking with an offender on Sunday, July 21, 2019 after it was alleged she attempted to bring suspected Sublingual pills to her boyfriend during visitation at the Branchville Correctional Facility.

Jennifer Griffith, 38 of Scottsburg, and her minor child were visiting Offender Michael Spicer DOC#109160 at the Branchville Correctional Facility.

Griffith is alleged to have concealed 11 Sublingual pills which she intended to pass to Offender Spicer during the visit.

Correctional Police Officers escorted Griffith to a facility office for further investigation.

After the interview was completed the investigation determined there was sufficient probable cause to arrest Griffith and allege the following criminal violations:
• Trafficking with an inmate
• Dealing in a schedule V controlled substance
• Visiting or Maintaining a common nuisance
• Possession of a controlled substance

“I am proud of Branchville Correctional Facility Correctional Police Officers and all staff involved,” stated Warden Kathy Alvey. Warden Alvey continued “Our job is to protect the staff, community, and offender population and our Correctional Police Officers did this! The arrest sends a strong message to the offender population and visitors to the facility; Branchville will not tolerate trafficking in any form.”

Griffith was later booked at the Perry County Detention Center and her juvenile child was placed in the custody of family members.
