Scott County Partnership First In State To Provide Homebound Patients With COVID-19 Vaccines

This opportunity to offer vaccines was made possible due to a partnership between the health department, and the Scott County EMS.

(Scott County, Ind.) – Homebound patients in Scott County now have the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through a new partnership between the Scott County Health Department and Scott County EMS.

Earlier in the month, the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH), Family & Social Services Administration (FSA), and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) announced the “Homebound Hoosiers” project.

The purpose of this project is so that local health departments can work with their local EMS to go out and administer the vaccine to those Hoosiers who are homebound and wanting the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Scott County Health Department has already notified homebound patients that met the criteria of 65 and older and has scheduled appointments with those patients. EMS personnel stayed with the patients for 15 minutes afterward to monitor for any adverse reactions.

“We have been working closely with the health department since the start of the pandemic. We are glad to work with them and provide this service to our community,” said Scott County EMS director Shannon Mount.
