Scott Co. Sheriff's Department Arrest One For Theft – Level 6 Felony, 5 counts, Possession of Marijuana- Level 6 Felony

Arrest made in Austin

On September 25, 2018, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police executed a search warrant at the residence of 2124 N. North Main St., Austin, Indiana. The search warrant was obtained after a multi-agency investigation including Scottsburg City Police, Scott County Sheriff’s Office, and Indiana State Police resulted in receiving information that tractor was located on the property after being reported stolen to the Scottsburg City Police.

Upon executing the search warrant at the residence it was discovered that, J.D. Bowles, who resides at the address, was in possession of the Stolen Tractor.

The item was seized by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and later returned to the rightful owners.

After seizing the tractor J. D. Bowles was charged multiple level six felonies for theft and for possession of marijuana. This investigation has been ongoing since early July of this year. Mr. Bowles has been charged for theft of three different trailers and also for a stolen truck. The investigation is still ongoing and additional information is suspected.

Sheriff Kenny Hughbanks said “The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is happy to work with the Indiana State Police and Scottsburg City Police or any other surrounding agency to investigate any criminal complaint.”
