Scott Co. Jail Passes Inspection for First Time in 20 Years

This compliance will help save the taxpayers money.

(Scott County, Ind.) - On March 6, Indiana State Jail Inspector Kenneth Whipker inspected the Scott County Security Center.

There are 200 items that the inspector must look at in order to make sure that the jail is compliant to state standards, for the first time in 20 years the Scott County Jail is totally compliant with state jail standards. 

This compliance will help save the taxpayers money for operational costs and will aide in the jail receiving federal and state grants.

Sheriff Jerry Goodin applauded and praised the jail staff for their hard work and dedication in making it possible. Sheriff Goodin stated not only is he excited about this accomplishment but would also like to thank the Scott Count Commissioners and the Scott County City Council for their help. 

"This project has saved county taxpayers millions of dollars," said Sheriff Goodin.
