Rising Star Casino's Ohio River Ferry To Be Christened Thursday

Rides between Rising Sun and Rabbit Hash

The new Ohio River ferry boat is expected to be introduced in Rising Sun this week.

A ceremony to mark the arrival and christening of the new ferry boat will be held Thursday, July 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Rising Sun Boat Ramp.

The ferry boat is owned and operated by Rising Star Casino.

An exact date for the boat to begin offering rides between Rising Sun and Rabbit Hash has not been announced yet, but the casino expects service to launch in early August. The ferry will run every 15 minutes, seven days a week.

Once it is shuttling traffic across the river, the ferry will shorten the commute between Rising Sun and Rabbit Hash from an hour to just a few minutes. It will be able to transport 10 vehicles at a time.

The cost for a ferry ride will be $5 one-way or $8 for a round trip, according to the announcement. Monthly passes will be available.
