Ripley County Crash Claims Life of Milan Man

Crash remains under investigation

                                  fatal

Yesterday evening, February 19, 2025, at approximately 7:15 pm, a head on crash in eastern Ripley County claimed the life of a 62-year-old Milan, Indiana man.

The initial investigation by Trooper Clayton Saltzman, Indiana State Police-Versailles Post, indicated that a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, being driven by George A. Frith, age 62, Milan, Indiana was traveling westbound in the 8000 Block of East State Road 350.  For an unknown reason, Frith’s vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of an eastbound 2007 GMC Yukon, being driven by Shelby L. Young, age 31, Aurora, Indiana.

The vehicles collided nearly head on in the eastbound lane of State Road 350.  As a result of the collision, Frith sustained fatal injuries.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ripley County Coroner’s Office.  Young and an infant in her vehicle were treated for minor injuries.

State Road 350 was closed for approximately four hours for crash investigation and cleanup.

The crash remains under investigation with toxicology results pending.  Frith’s family has been notified.

Trp. Saltzman was assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post Crash Reconstruction Team, the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, Milan Police Department, Milan Fire Department, Aurora Fire Department, Moores Hill Fire Department and EMS, Ripley County EMS, and Ripley County Coroner’s Office.
