Return of a grocery store downtown since 2018
Madison, Indiana (September 10, 2024) – The City of Madison is proud to announce the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the new DG Market, located in the heart of downtown Madison's cultural arts district. The event will take place on September 18, 2024, at 11:30 AM.
Madison's Mayor Bob Courtney, along with city officials and representatives from DG Market, will be on hand to commemorate the opening of this much-anticipated addition to Madison. The new store offers a selection of fresh produce, groceries, and household essentials, providing a convenient shopping option for downtown residents and visitors alike.
"We are thrilled to welcome DG Market to downtown Madison," said Mayor Courtney. "We know the community has been eagerly awaiting the return of a downtown grocery store since Ruler Foods closed in 2018. The opening of DG Market marks the end of that wait, bringing vital access to groceries back to our downtown while supporting our city's continued growth and revitalization."
The ribbon-cutting will include brief remarks from Mayor Courtney, Neil Rumohr, DG Market District Manager, Curt Raftery, Managing Member of Rafferty Development, LLC, and City of Madison officials. Light refreshments and a tour of the store will follow the ribbon cutting.
The event is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend and explore the new space.
