Current system is outdated and unusable

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – The Kentucky Department of Revenue (DOR) announced on Wednesday that a new Kentucky business tax portal is projected to launch on March 14, which will also affect the processing of individual income tax returns while the new portal is being implemented.
The new portal, called MyTaxes, will make filing taxes more convenient, according to the DOR. MyTaxes offers a more comprehensive view of taxpayer information and communications. Additionally, MyTaxes will offer increased self-service capabilities such as submitting a refund application, making payments, and requesting a letter of good standing.
If you are a current Kentucky business taxpayer, you will receive information and next steps in a separate email from the Department of Revenue in March. Current business taxpayers should log in to OneStop to print historical data and verify your email address and contact information to ensure you receive your login credentials and instructions.
Starting February 26, there will be a two-week operations pause at Kentucky Department of Revenue to prepare for these transitions. Business tax filers will not be able to file returns or receive refund payments in either the old system, OneStop, or the new system, MyTaxes, from February 26 to March 14.
This will also hold true for those filing individual income tax returns during the two week pause. The DOR will accept the individual income tax returns but won’t be able to process them during the time the transition is taking place. If you are anticipating a refund and would like it promptly, the DOR recommends filing your tax return as soon as possible, once they begin accepting returns on January 27.
These changes are necessary because the current systems at the DOR are outdated and unsustainable. These changes and the go-live dates were established in consultation with many stakeholders, and there was careful consideration and assessment of the tax filing requirements and revenue collection to determine the window of minimal impact that was also feasible with the system development window. DOR says they understand that no month is a good month for a change in their systems and that this will cause some inconvenience for tax filers, but they want to ensure that everyone has the information they need in advance for minimal disruption.
