PROSECUTOR SUTTER: MCDARMENT SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR BURGLARY CONVICTION

He will serve the full 20 years

Jefferson County, Indiana (September 27, 2024) - A Madison man was sentenced to 20 years by Jefferson County Superior Court Judge Blaine Goode after entering a guilty plea to Level 2 Burglary. Jeremy McDarment, 35, broke and entered a home in Kent, Indiana while armed with a gun. He then fled the scene and was ultimately arrested in Ohio that same day.

McDarment will serve a fully executed 20 year sentence in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Prosecutor David R. Sutter stated, “Thanks to the rapid response of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and investigation led by Lt. Linton Spry, we were able to hold McDarment accountable for the chaos he caused to both his victims and multiple communities that day.”

McDarment broke and entered a home on S.R. 256 in the mid-morning hours of May, 25, 2023 and then battered one of the residents while armed with a handgun. McDarment was accompanied by his girlfriend, Amber Watson. Watson was found guilty of Residential Entry and has subsequently violated her probation and been charged with multiple drug related charges.

After fleeing the county, McDarment and Watson drove through Kentucky and eventually were captured in Loveland, Ohio.
