PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR HOME DETENTION AND PROBATION VIOLATIONS

He was on home detention when he violated terms

SCOTT COUNTY (December 16, 2022) – Kevin Fox of Scottsburg was sentenced to prison for violating the terms and conditions of his home detention and probation. Mr. Fox was originally convicted for Dealing in Methamphetamine, served time in prison for that offense, and was serving a stint on home detention when these new violations occurred.

On September 12, 2022, while serving time on home detention, Mr. Fox was arrested by the Scottsburg Police Department for violating the rules of his home detention. Petitions to revoke his home detention and probation were filed shortly thereafter alleging Mr. Fox committed a new criminal offense, traveled outside of his approved schedule, and used illegal drugs.

On November 3, 2022, a contested hearing was held, in which the prosecutor’s office proved that Mr. Fox violated the terms and conditions of his home detention and probation sentences. The matter was set for a sentencing hearing on December 15, 2022. At the conclusion of the sentencing hearing, the Court ordered the remainder of Mr. Fox’s four (4) year home detention sentence to be served in prison and also revoked two (2) years of Mr. Fox’s probation also to be served in prison. Upon release after serving the six (6) year prison sentence, Mr. Fox will be supervised by the Scott County Probation Department for an additional four (4) years.

“Our office is working hard to see that criminal offenders are held accountable for their crimes, and when offenders who have been given chances to change their criminal ways refuse to do so, the prosecutor’s office works hard to see that they are incarcerated so that the other citizens of this community are safe,” stated Chris Owens, Scott County’s Prosecuting Attorney. He further stated, “Law abiding citizens in our community are sick and tired of repeat offenders and the people in my office are told ensure that these offenders are held accountable for their actions.”

I would like to thank the officers of the Scottsburg Police Department, the Scott County Community Corrections Department, and the Scott County Probation Department for their efforts that led to this sentence. I also want to thank Deputy Prosecutor Mark Kiesler for his work in obtaining this result.
