(Covington, Ky.) - The Brent Spence Bridge had to be closed for multiple hours on Monday following a police pursuit.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m., Covington Police received information that a vehicle connected with a known home invasion burglary suspect was driving northbound on I-75 approaching I-275. Officers attempted to stop the car, but it fled from officers.

The suspect eventually crashed into two other cars on the lower deck of the Brent Spence Bridge. At that time, the suspect fled the scene of the accident and attempted to carjack one of the vehicles he rain into.

The suspect was unsuccessful and climbed over the side of the bridge and hid in the support beams underneath for several hours, forcing police to shut down both northbound and southbound traffic to safely facilitate the search of the suspect.

Multiple agencies, drones, and rescue boats were deployed. The suspect, identified as Joshua D. Baker, 38, of Cincinnati, was located and eventually surrendered.

Baker is facing charges of  Fleeing 1st Degree, Fleeing 3rd Degree, Wanton 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Carjacking, and driving on a suspended license. He also had four outstanding warrants. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Covington to be treated for exposure before being lodged in detention.

A female passenger riding in the vehicle with Baker was taken to St. Elizabeth Covington by ambulance to be treated for minor injuries. The drivers of the two vehicles that were struck did not require medical attention.
