Ohio Man Killed in Early Morning Decatur County Crash

Crash remains under investigation

                                      fatal

Shortly after 6:00 am Wednesday morning, troopers with Indiana State Police-Versailles Post responded to State Road 3, north of Greensburg, in Decatur County, Indiana for a two vehicle head on crash that resulted in a fatality.

The initial investigation by Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionists indicated that a 2017 GMC Acadia, being driven by Adam P. Peters, age 36, Morristown, Ohio was traveling southbound on SR 3 near County Road 300 North.  For an unknown reason, Peters’ vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of a northbound 2017 Ford E-350 box truck being driven by Jamin E. Guthrie, age 39, North Vernon, Indiana.  The vehicles collided nearly head on in the roadway.  After the collision, both vehicles came to rest partially off the roadway.

Sadly, Adam Peters sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Decatur County Coroner’s Office.  Jamin Guthrie received minor injuries in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.  Toxicology tests are pending at this time but alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.  State Road 3 was closed for approximately four hours for crash investigation and cleanup.

Adam Peters’ family has been notified.

The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County EMS, and Decatur County Coroner’s Office.
