UPDATE: NWS Confirms Tornado Touched Down in Boone County

The weather event took place on Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has released a Damage Survey from a tornado event in northern Kentucky on Wednesday night. 

According to the NWS, an EF1 tornado touched down west of KY 237 at an industrial site at 10:54 p.m. The estimated peak wind was 105 mph with a path length of 3.15 miles and a path width of 90 yards. 

The tornado lasted approximately two minutes. 

Before dissipating, the tornado tracked across CVG where extensive wall and roof damage was observed to an industrial building. A 747 was moved about five feet from the winds. In addition, a dozen cars experienced damage from flying debris in a nearby parking garage. Additional tree damage and damage to HVAC systems were reported at the airport prior to lifting. 

No injuries or fatalities were reported.

(Boone County, Ky.) – The National Weather Service in Wilmington has confirmed that a tornado touched down at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on Wednesday night.

The tornado was corroborated with video footage, which was not released.

The storm survey team is still assessing the path length and the max intensity of the tornado.
