Hanover College is pleased to announce that Mark Shook will be joining the College as the new vice president for athletics. Shook has extensive experience in overseeing collegiate athletics and supporting student athletes, and he will bring that expertise to Hanover. Shook is currently serving as the vice president for intercollegiate athletics at Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC).

Shook has a B.S. in secondary education from Bowling Green State University and a M.Ed. in Sports Education from Ashland University. Prior to his time at KWC, Shook served in numerous athletic leadership roles at Bowling Green and the University of Wisconsin. He also worked in academic roles supporting student athletes at Purdue University and the Ohio State University.

“We are thrilled to have such an experienced athletics director join Hanover College who can help build on our strong foundation,” said President Lake Lambert. “Athletics is a critical part of the holistic education that Hanover delivers to its students and I’m confident that Mark embraces that vision.”

Shook succeeds Lynn Hall ’82, who will be retiring in June after leading Hanover College athletics for 27 years. During her tenure, Hall combined men’s and women’s athletics departments into one unit and became the College’s first vice president for athletics in 2015. “Lynn has built a tremendous organization and has served Hanover College faithfully for more than 30 years, and I cannot overstate the impact she has had on Hanover College and the tens of thousands of students she has supported,” said Lambert. “We are immensely grateful for Lynn’s commitment and service, and wish her a wonderful, well-deserved retirement.”

“I am sincerely grateful to President Lambert, Provost Adams, and the entire search committee for entrusting me to lead Hanover College’s storied athletic program, and I look forward to contributing to the growth of the student-athlete experience, as well as supporting the mission of the College,” said Shook. “It will be an honor to build upon Lynn Hall’s proud legacy and continue driving excellence in the classroom, in competition, and in the community to move our program boldly into the future.”

Shook begins his role at Hanover on May 1, 2025.
