New Signals To Activate Friday at U.S. 421, 2nd Street Near Madison-Milton Bridge

Motorists are advised to slow down and use extra caution in the area.

(Jefferson County, Ind.) - Beatty Construction Inc., an Indiana Department of Transportation contractor is planning on activating new traffic signals at the intersection of U.S. 421 (Harrison Street) and 2nd Street, near the Madison-Milton bridge.

Beatty Construction is hoping that this will be taking place on Friday, November 20, weather permitting.

The new signals will be controlled by in-payment loop sensors and feature three-section signal heads.

Most of the work on the bridge approach that has cost nearly $10 million will be completed by the end of 2020. The new alignment opened to traffic in June. Within the next two to three weeks, Beatty is hoping to have 2nd street reopen.

In the spring, crews will return to finish the final surface paving and striping.

Motorists are advised to slow down and use extra caution in the area.
