New Albany Woman Arrested for Child Sex Trafficking

A nearly three month investigation led to the arrest

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Indiana State Police arrested a Floyd County woman for Child Sexual trafficking and other felony charges following an Indiana State Police (ISP) investigation.

In February, Trooper Mackenzie Benham was assisting the ISP Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) taskforce after receiving a cyber tip of possible child sexual abuse. The tip indicated that an adult was possibly exploiting a child for sex via an online dating app.

Acting on this information, Trooper Benham applied for a search warrant for data associated with the tip and also enlisted the assistance of ISP Detective Steven Peyton.

Information gathered in the ensuing investigation led Detective Peyton and investigators with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) to speak with 37-year-old Kristina S. McAdams of New Albany. During the investigation, detectives collected a cell phone as evidence, and DCS removed a child from the residence. Detective Peyton obtained a search warrant for the cell phone, and information gathered during the search and investigation was forwarded to the Floyd County Prosecutor's Office.

Consequently, the Floyd County Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for Kristina McAdams on April 17, 2025. The warrant was for one count of Child Sexual Trafficking, a Level 2 Felony, one count of Promotion of Sexual Trafficking of a Younger Child, a Level 3 Felony, and one count of Promoting Prostitution, a Level 5 Felony.

Kristina McAdams was arrested Thursday, April 17, 2025, by officers with the Floyd County Sheriff's Department, and was remanded into the Floyd County Jail without incident.
