National Weather Service Confirms Tornadoes in Versailles, Dillsboro

There were no fatalities or injuries reported during the storms.

(Versailles, Ind.) - The National Weather Service out of Wilmington, OH confirmed two tornados had traveled through Ripley County last Wednesday, April 8.

The tornadoes touched down around 10:00 p.m. causing significant damage to the area business, homes, and even took down power lines and trees.

In Versailles, and EF1 tornado touched down on the southwest side of the town with a maximum wind speed of 86 MPH. Ground and aerial photos helped to confirm that the pattern and placement of the debris associated with a tornado. Damage between Versailles and Holton indicated straight-line wind damage. 

In Dillsboro, an EF0 tornado touched down along Farmers Retreat Rd. in southeast Ripley County. This tornado has a maximum wind speed of 70 MPH with straight-line wind damage on the north side of the tornado path. 

There were no fatalities or injuries reported during the storms. 

Reported findings were supported by assistance from Ripley County Emergency Management and Versailles Fire Department.
