MPD Arrest Two on Home Burglary, Drug Related Charges

Both Snell and Liter have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty,

(Madison, Ind.) - The Madison Police Department took two into custody on May 26 on various drug charges, and a residential burglary charge. 

At approximately 11:09 p.m. officers responded to a residential burglary in progress in the 1000 block of Park Ave. 

Upon arrival, officer located a pick-up truck in the driveway with the headlights on. In the drivers seat of the running vehicle was a female who was later identified as Rebecca Ann Liter, 41, of Madison. 

As officers approached the rear of the residence, they located Derek Snell,26, of Madison carrying a television out of the backdoor. Patrolman Josh Nolan, the lead investigative officer, also noted that a window was broken out of the door in which Snell was exiting. 

During the subsequent search of the pick-up, officers located additional property taken form the Park Avenue residence. 

Investigating officers also found both Snell and Liter to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. 

After on scene investigation, officers found probable cause to arrest both Snell and Liter on the following charges:

Derek Patrick Paul Snell:

  •  Residential Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of Methamphetamine. 

Rebecca Ann Liter:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Paraphernalia.

Patrolman Nolan was assisted with the investigation by Madison Police Captain Rick Mundt, Sergeant R. Wayne Phillips, and Patrolman Brian Ashcraft. 

Both Snell and Liter have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty,
