Five arrests made in two days
On December 09, 2019, Paul Kirk, an inmate at the Jennings County Jail, was arrested for attempting to traffic drugs into the Jennings County Jail when jail staff was able to intercept the illegal drugs. Kirk was recently returning from working on a work crew and was returning to jail when the drugs were discovered. Kirk was originally being held on a Jennings County Warrant for non-support of a dependent.
Kirk (age 42 of Seymour) is faced with the new charges of Trafficking (level 5 Felony), Dealing (level 6 Felony) and Possession (class A Misd) of a Schedule III Controlled Substance. Kirk is being held in the Jennings County Jail on a total bond of $4155.00.
On December 09, 2019, members of the Jennings County Narcotics Team was conducting surveillance on South State Street when deputies observed a hand to hand drug transaction take place in the parking area of a local business. Deputies approached and took into custody Josh Phelps (age 31 of North Vernon) and Christina Ross (age 26 of North Vernon), both for Dealing a Controlled Substance (Level 6 Felony). Both are being held in the Jennings County Jail on a $2605.00 bond.
On December 10, 2019, two other individuals were arrested on arrest warrants for their participation in dealing drugs in Jennings County. Both subjects were incarcerated in jail on unrelated charges.
The arrest warrants stem from a lengthy investigation where members of the Narcotics Team oversaw the purchase of illegal drugs from the individuals arrested.
Brayton Eder (age 24 of North Vernon), who was being held in the Jennings County Jail, was served his arrest warrant for 2 counts in dealing Methamphetamine and 2 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Dealing in Methamphetamine. Eder is currently being held in the Jennings County Jail without bond.
Larry R Evans (age 23 of North Vernon), who was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail, was served his arrest warrant for 3 counts in dealing Methamphetamine and 3 counts of Possession of Methamphetamine. Evans is currently being held in the Bartholomew County Jail and will be transported to the Jennings County Jail upon his completion in Bartholomew County. Evans bond has been set at $200,000.00.
