MCS BOARD APPROVES CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

ANDERSON ELEM AND HIGH SCHOOL

THE MADISON CONSLIDATED SCHOOL BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED TWO MAJOR CONSRUCTION PROJECTS FINANCED BY ONE SINGLE 8 MILLION BOND, THE RESOLUTION TO BUILD ADDITION TO WEST SIDE OF ANDERSON ELEMENTARY AND SOLAR EFFICIENCIES TO MADISON HIGH SCHOOL.

THE RESOLUTIONS PASSED CITED AN ESTIMATED COST OF 4 MILLION FOR EACH PROJECT. THE DISTRICT STATED "IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT THE TAX RATE IS NOT INCREASING". 

MADISON SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT STUDEBAKER EXPLAINED THAT THE 10,000 SQUARE FOOT ADDITION TO ANDERSON WOULD INCLUDE FOUR NEW CLASSROOMS,A MEDIA CENTER,CONFERENCE ROOM,TWO NEW STUDENT RESTROOMS AND TWO FACULTY RESTROOMS. THERE WILL ALSO BE A HYBRID OFFICE AREA FOR SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY,SPECIAL EDUCATION AND INTERVENTION EDUCATORS. THESE OFFICES CAN ALSO BE USED FOR MEETINGS WITH LOBBY AND WAITING AREAS. THE SCHOOLS CURRENT MEDIA CENTER WILL BE TRANSFORMED INTO SCIENCE AND ART CLASSROOMS.

WORK WILL BEGIN THIS WINTER OR SPRING OF 2022 WITH COMPLETION IN THE FALL OF 2022 OR SPRING OF 2023. WORK BEING DONE WILL NOT INTERRUPT SCHOOL WHEN ITS IN SESSION. THE NEW ARTS AND SCIENCE CLASSROOMS COULD OCCUR IN SUMMER OF 2023 WHILE IS ON SUMMER BREAK.

THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECT WILL INVOLVE REPLACING A SECTION OF THE HIGH SCHOOL ROOF AND INSTALLING SOLAR PANELS THAT WILL PROVIDE LONG TERM ENERGY SAVINGS, IT ALSO INCLUDES INSTALLING EFFICIENT LED LIGHTING AT THE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL FIELDS SIMILAR TO WHAT IS ALREADY IN PLACE AT THE FOOTBALL FIELD 

THERE IS ALSO CONSIDERATION OF WORK TO BE DONE AT MCJHS POSSIBLY REPLACING THE HEATING AND COOLING UNITS AS THE CURRENT ONES ARE HAVING LOTS OF ISSUES.
