This declaration and restriction will be reevaluated regularly as weather conditions evolve
Madison Mayor Bob Courtney has declared a state of emergency and issued a travel warning, restricting travel to emergency personnel only with a few exceptions. This declaration and restriction will be reevaluated regularly as weather conditions evolve.
During the travel warning, individuals are directed to refrain from all travel, comply with necessary emergency measures, cooperate with public officials and disaster services in executing emergency operations plans, and obey and comply with lawful directions from properly identified officers.
Mayor Bob Courtney urges everyone to prioritize safety: "The safety of our community is our top priority. As this severe weather impacts our area, I urge everyone to stay home, avoid unnecessary risks, and support one another."
City Hall, the Brown Gym, the Transfer Station, and the Senior Center will be closed tomorrow due to the storm. Trash collection will be delayed.
The Salvation Warming Shelter is open tonight and tomorrow night for those in need. Volunteers are urgently needed for the remainder of the week.
Additionally, residents are encouraged to check on loved ones, especially elderly or vulnerable neighbors, to ensure they are safe and have necessary supplies. Please remember to bring pets indoors or provide them with adequate shelter to protect them from the severe weather.
In case of emergencies, please call 911.
Stay safe, Madison, and please stay off the roads.
