Martin Luther King JR Day Closing

The holiday is monday

MLK Day closings

All offices for the city of Madison, town of Hanover and Jefferson County will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

The Madison closing on Monday includes trash, recycling and compost that will be delayed one day the week of Jan. 15-19.

The town of Hanover municipal building will also be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday while the utility office staff attend training. Utility bills due Jan. 15 will be picked up from the drop box at the end of that day so that those who pay on time will not be penalized.

All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle branches will be closed Saturday, Jan. 13, through Monday, Jan. 15, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. All branches will resume regularly scheduled business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

U.S. Postal Service facilities will be closed for retail transactions on Monday, Jan. 15, and there will be no residential or business deliveries. Normal delivery and collection schedules will resume Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Schools in the Madison and Southwestern school corporations and Prince of Peace Schools are closed on Monday, but students at Canaan Academy will attend classes on their normal schedule.
