MAN ARRESTED ON BURGLARY CHARGE

2300 Block of Clifty Drive

On April 4, 2018, the Madison Police Department received a call in reference to a suspicious subject in 2300 Block of Clifty Drive. The caller stated the subject was walking around a residence.

Lt. Jonathon Simpson and Ptl. Kyle Cutshaw arrived in the area. Officers walked behind a residence and observed a rear door that had been forced open. Officers entered the residence to check on the subjects inside.

During a sweep of the residence, officers located Dusty W. Collins Age 35 of Madison, hiding next to a bed. Officers detained Collins. Collins stated that he was living at the residence. Collins provided a name to officers who provided him permission to stay at the residence. The name provided did not match the home owner.

Officers learned that the homeowner was incarcerated at the Jefferson County Jail. Contact was made with the homeowner who stated that no one should be in the residence. During a search of Collins officers located a title to a vehicle. The homeowner informed officers that Collins had stolen the title. Collins told officers he bought the vehicle, but the name on the title did not match Collins. Collins was placed under arrest and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
