Madison Schools To Hire Additional Resource Officers

This will be first time all the school building will have an officer

                                    

Madison Consolidated Schools for the first time since implementing School Resource Officers will have all one in all six of the districts school buildings for the 2023-24 school year.

The school board of trustees approved the hiring of the additonal officers following the recommendation of school Superitendent Dr. Teresa Brown,current officer Jacob McVey will oversee each of the buildings officers.

The additonal salaries and benefits will cost the school system $260,000 with the cost of police vehicles, Initial start-up cost for weapons, equipment and training for close to $60,000, McVey's contract will be receiving additional salary

The total cost to school system will be estimated at nearly $530,000

The school corporation is asking Madison and Jefferson County to contribute $50,000 toward the purchase of two police vehicles.
