Drugs and Fleeing Police
UPDATED PRESS RELEASE PER CHIEF WALLACE:
Correction regarding the arrest of John P. Parker 36, Carrollton, Ky. It was brought to the Madison Police Department's attention that Robert J. Parker 35, Carrollton, Kentucky purposely identified himself as John Parker during the booking process. Detective's Kyle Cutshaw and Ricky Harris followed up the investigation and confirmed that Robert Parker did indeed portray himself as John. In addition to the earlier stated possession charges, Robert J. Parker now faces a third L-6 felony charge of Identity Deception. John P. Parker WAS NOT arrested
Original Story
November 30, 2021, Officer Nichole Midgett executed a traffic stop in the area of Harrison and Second Streets. The driver was identified as John P. Parker 36, Carrollton, Kentucky. During her interaction with the driver, Officer Midgett noted Parker was operating his Toyota Corolla passenger car with an altered temporary plate. In addition, Parker did not have the vehicle in which he was operating, properly insured.
K-9 Colt, and his handler Officer Trent Smith were summoned to the stop to conduct an open air sniff of Parker's vehicle. Colt gave his handler a positive indication for the possession of narcotics. The subsequent search found Parker to be in possession of methamphetamine and syringes. Parker was taken into custody and faces preliminary alleged charges of possession of methamphetamine L-6 felony and possession of a syringe L-6 felony. Parker was also cited for his traffic violations. Parker has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty. Officer Cameron Blankenship assisted.
December 1, 2021, at approximately 12:08 AM Officer Kyle Potter conducted a traffic stop on Lanier Drive, just North of Clifty Drive. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Maven P. B. Egerton 20, Madison, Indiana. As Officer Potter interacted with Egerton, explaining why he pulled him over, Potter detected an odor of marijuana. During the subsequent search of the vehicle, marijuana was located.
On November 25, 2021, Madison Police Officer Cameron Blankenship attempted to stop a vehicle on Third Street, registered to Egerton. The vehicle, a black Dodge Durango, fled from officers, reaching speeds estimated at 100 MPH. Officer Blankenship terminated the pursuit as he deemed it unsafe. Blankenship last observed the vehicle traveling East on Aulenbach Ave.
A short time later, Deputy Shawn Gardner of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department located the Durango in the county. Deputy Gardner too gave pursuit, however terminated it after losing sight of the vehicle.
After further investigation during the December 1, 2021, traffic stop, Egerton was taken into custody for the November 25, 2021, resisting incident. Egerton was not operating the vehicle in which he fled in during the November 25th incident. Egerton faces preliminary alleged charges of resisting law enforcement (vehicle) L-6 felony 2 Cts, B/M criminal recklessness and A.M reckless driving 2-Cts. Egerton has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty. Officer Nichole Midgett assisted.
