All have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty
November 2, 2023, Madison Police arrested Ashley D. Oblak 38, Louisville, Kentucky, and Elizabeth A. Smith 55, Austin, Indiana, on narcotic related charges.
Madison Police Patrolman Curtis Shelpman executed a traffic stop in the 400 block of Clifty Drive, on a vehicle driven by Ashley Oblak, for an equipment and traffic violation. Jefferson County Deputy Logan Gray and his K-9 partner Lykin responded to Shelpman’s stop, with the K-9 conducting an open-air sniff around the exterior of Oblak’s vehicle. The K-9 have his handler a positive indication for the presence of narcotics. During the subsequent probable cause search, officers located methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia associated with the use of drugs. Both subjects were taken into custody, Smith faces preliminary alleged charges of possession of methamphetamine L-6 felony, maintaining a common nuisance L-6 felony and possession of paraphernalia class c misdemeanor. Oblak faces preliminary alleged charges of possession of marijuana class B misdemeanor and visiting a common nuisance class A misdemeanor. Both Oblak and Smith have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty. Shelpman was assisted by Gray, Captain Season Jackson, and Patrolman Andrew Gibbs.
November 3, 2023, Madison Police arrested Richard W. Stokes 64, Madison, Indiana, for possession of methamphetamine L-6 felony.
Madison Police K-9 Officer Trent Smith executed a traffic stop on Michigan Road, near Ivy Tech Drive, for a traffic and equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Richard Stokes. During the subsequent investigation, officers located methamphetamine in Stokes’ vehicle and on his person. Stokes was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jefferson County, Jail, where he faces the preliminary alleged charge stated above. Smith was assisted by Officer Curtis Shelpman and Captain Season Jackson. Stokes has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
