Madison Parks and Recreation Partners with Jane’s Kids and Bethany Legacy Foundation to Ensure Crystal Beach is Accessible to All

Ensure that all families have accessiblity no matter financial situation

Madison, Indiana (May 8, 2024) The City of Madison Parks and Recreation is excited to announce a partnership to ensure every child has the opportunity to enjoy a summer of fun at Crystal Beach Aquatic Park. Through a partnership with Jane’s Kids (River Valley Resources) and Bethany Legacy Foundation (BLF), the aquatic park is accessible to all Jefferson County residents, regardless of financial circumstances.

Thanks to the generous support of Jane’s Kids and BLF, children in need will have access to day passes at Crystal Beach Aquatic Park at no cost all summer. This initiative aims to remove financial barriers and provide opportunities for all children to experience the excitement of a day at Crystal Beach.

In a commitment to long-term accessibility, the Bethany Legacy Foundation has joined the City of Madison to offer season passes to families who qualify for state SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) benefits. Families meeting the state thresholds for these assistance programs can now enjoy unlimited visits to Crystal Beach Aquatic Park throughout the season, ensuring that economic hardships do not hinder access to the brand-new aquatic park. Additional benefits are available and will be shared when families complete the application process.

“Crystal Beach is more than water and concrete. It is the heart of our community – a place where community bonds will be built and people of all ages, generations and all walks of life will come together.  The significant health and social benefits made this a strong ‘YES’ investment for Bethany Legacy Foundation,” said Dora Anim, Bethany Legacy Foundation President & CEO.

To qualify for the day passes, families must visit River Valley Resources located at 100 E 2nd St. Madison, IN 47250 beginning May 13, 2024, to complete an application. To qualify for the season passes, families must provide proof of eligibility for SNAP and WIC benefits and complete the application at madison-in.gov/crystalbeach or visit the Brown Gym from 1 -5 PM Monday-Friday beginning May 20, 2024.

"We believe every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy the simple pleasures of summer, regardless of their economic circumstances," said Madison’s Mayor Bob Courtney. We are thankful for the commitment of Jane’s Kids, Bethany Legacy Foundation, and Madison Parks and Recreation to ensure Crystal Beach Aquatic Park is accessible to all families to enjoy a summer of fun."
