Madison Man Arrested on Drug Charges

January 24, 2022, at approximately 7:40 PM Madison Police executed a narcotic search warrant on a residence in the 1600 block of Michigan Road.  The occupant of the residence was identified as William J. Melton Sr. 60, Madison, Indiana. The investigation, which led to the search warrant of Melton's residence, was conducted by Madison Police Patrolmen Chad Wehner, Trent Smith, and Cameron Blankenship.  

As a result of the executed warrant, officers located methamphetamine, cocaine, controlled substances, hypodermic needles, U.S. currency, and paraphernalia associated with the use of narcotics. 
 
William (Bill) Melton faces preliminary alleged charges of - DEALING METHAMPHETAMINE L-2 FELONY - DEALING COCAINE L-3 FELONY - POSSESSION OF COCAINE L-4 FELONY - POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE L-4 FELONY - POSSESSION OF A HYPODERMIC NEEDLE L-6 FELONY - POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE L-6 FELONY - MAINTAINING A COMMON NUISANCE L-6 FELONY - POSSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA CLASS A MISDEMENAOR and POSSESSION OF THROWING STARS CLASS C MISDEMEANOR.  Melton was taken into custody by Madison Police and transported to the Jefferson County, Jail without incident.  
 
William Melton Sr. has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
