Madison Man Arrested for Battery of a Child

July 9, 2021, Madison Police Detectives responded to KDH-ER reference suspicious injuries to a 1 1/2 year old child.  The investigation determined the child was the victim of abuse and was treated for serious bodily injuries. Detectives also executed a search warrant for a W. Fourth Street address, where the alleged incidents were to have occurred.   

July 14, 2021, Madison Police Detective Jeremey Perkins, the lead investigator, arrested DALTON L.  DUNCIL 28, Madison, Indiana, on preliminary alleged charges of  - battery to a child resulting in serious bodily injury L-3 felony - neglect of a dependent / child L-3 felony - possession of a hypodermic needle L-6 felony.  

The investigation revealed that Duncil is the step-father of the victim and alleges the injuries occurred while the child was in Duncil's care.  The child's injuries, although not life threatening, are substantial.  

DALTON L. DUNCIL has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  Detectives Cutshaw, Scudder & Harris assisted with this on going investigation, along with MPD Captain Bruce Heaton.
